What You'll Learn
Core Art Fundamentals (The Basics)
- Students should literally learn the “alphabet” of art before tackling the more complex art pieces.
- Drawing and sketching: Line quality, hand shading (hatching, cross-hatching) and shapes
Color Theory: Study of the Color Wheel
Study of primary colors, secondary colors , tertiary colors, complementary colors, color temperatures (warm vs. cool colors) Monochomatic Color scheme: The principles of drawing 3D objects on flat surfaces and arranging elements
for visual balance.
Painting & Mediums
- Experiment with utilizing textures and techniques with paints.
- Pencil: explore different pencil grades, getting to know shading methods and techniques.
- Oil Pastels : how to spread smooth oil pastels, understanding how to create texture and values.
- Pen and Ink: Various methods of pen & ink through wash, hatching, crosshatching and others.
- Water Colour & Poster colours: for fairy landscapes – wet-on-wet, dry brush and ‘blooming’ techniques.
- Abstract Acrylics on canvas: Layering, Blending, using Palette knives for thick (impasto) technique.
Students will learn during the course of the class
Drawing methods: Hatching, cross-hatching, dappling, smudging, tonal layering and light-to-dark value scales.
Composition: Still life composition, learning perspective, clarity of the mind, study of light and shadows. Understand Placement of shapes, colors, and lines in proper order to balance and please the eye of the viewer.
Human Figure: Learn how to render a human figure, fundamentals of figurative art including human proportions, movement, basic anatomy, and expressive drawing techniques.
Portrait: Study of portraits including its Facial Proportions, Studying Different Features, 3D shading/gradation, building textures of hair and clothes.
Impressionistic Work: convey the overall feeling, atmosphere or impression rather than the fine details of a subject.
Abstract Art: Get into exploring abstract art by using colors, shapes, textures and creative expression without boundaries.
Indian Folk art forms: Madhubani, Gond Art, pichwai, Mandala and so many other Art forms to understand the fine brush line work and the unique beauty of each folk Art.
Clay Modelling: Create shapes or figures with clay.
Best out of Waste: Making useful or decorative things using used or discarded things.
Pots Painting: Discover pot painting and decorate terracotta pots using colors, patterns and creative designs.
Painting on Glass: Just by using particular paints, you are able to create colorful designs on glass. The glass will allow light to filter through, causing the artwork to look bright and beautiful.
